Be Aware of Your Vehicle's Height
One of the first things you should do upon acquiring an RV is to measure the highest point of your rig.  Measure it when it is hooked up to your tow vehicle (if applicable) and while it is empty.  Knowing and remembering this information can be important to protecting your vehicle from damage that can occur from running into low-clearance bridges and awnings.

A special GPS unit used by truckers can also help you avoid coming head-to-head with a low-clearance bridge.  Some of these GPS units designed for truckers allow you to create a custom profile of your vehicle.  These units should keep you from traveling on routes where you will encounter low-clearance bridges.

We have included some videos of some related mishaps.  Be safe!
